The soprano Ditte Andersen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Opera with Susanna Eken. She graduated in the summer of 2004. Since then she has established herself as one of Scandinavia’s leading high, lyric sopranos. Ditte Andersen has worked with conductors such as Christophe Rousset, Fabio Biondi, Donald Runnicles, Vladimir Jurowski, Ulf Schirmer, Patrick Fournillier, Tomas Netopil, Yves Abel, Ion Marin, Daniel Oren, Christopher Hogwood, Adam Fischer, Yves Abel, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Michael Hofstetter, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Paul McCreesh, Graeme Jenkins, Matthias Foremny, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Thomas Dausgaard, Jun Märkl, Laurence Equilbey, Adrian Leaper, Johannes Willig, Paolo Arrivabeni and Peter Dijkstra. 2006-2008 she was a principal soloist at the Deutsche Oper Berlin where her roles included Sophie in DER ROSENKAVALIER, Susanna in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Gretel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Fiakermilli in ARABELLA, Waldvogel in SIEGFRIED, Ein Junger Hirt in TANNHÄUSER, Lisa in LA SONNAMBULA, Pepa in TIEFLAND, and the soprano in a staged production of CARMINA BURANA. Other recent opera engagements have included Cirène in ARISTEO and Bauci in BAUCI E FILEMONE, both operas by Gluck, at Opéra Garnier Paris, Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg, Palais des Beaux-Arts Brussels, Opéra Garnier Monaco, and Le Corum Montpellier, Blondchen in DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL at Opéra de Lausanne, Opéra de Nimes and at Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Céphie in Rameau’s ZOROASTRE in Opéra Comique in Paris, as well as in Amsterdam and at Drottningholm Theatre in Stockholm, Servilia in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO, Amor in Gluck’s ORFEO ED EURYDICE, and Papagena in THE MAGIC FLUTE at the Royal Danish Opera, Servilia in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO in Budapest, and SHORT CUTS, a pasticcio with arias from different Mozart operas in Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Nimes, Luxembourg, Grenoble, Caen and Vichy. In concerts she has also sung Elisa in Mozart’s IL RE PASTORE with Adam Fischer. Ditte Andersen is much in demand as a concert singer and she has appeared in concert venues and festivals throughout Europe including the Royal Albert Hall in London, Teatro Monumental in Madrid, Salle Pleyel, Cité de la Musique and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Bozar in Brussels, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Konzerthaus Berlin. Engagements in the season 2009/10 include Zelmira in Haydn’s ARMIDA in Cologne with the conductor Andreas Spering, Baucis in Haydn’s PHILEMON UND BAUCIS in Madrid with the conductor Fabio Biondi, Haydn’s DIE JAHRESZEITEN with the conductor Andrew Manze, Orff’s CARMINA BURANA with the conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Haydn’s DIE SCHÖPFUNG as well as Bach’s ST. JOHN PASSION in Oslo, Pergolesi’s STABAT MATER as well as Bach’s MASS IN B MINOR in Copenhagen, N.W Gade’s ELVERSKUD in Aarhus, Bach’s CHRISTMAS ORATORIO in Aalborg (Denmark), and Handel’s MESSIAH in Bergen (Norway). Upcoming engagements include the title role in the world premier of Niels Marthinsen’s SNOW WHITE at the Danish National Opera, concerts in Barcelona as well as recording of Artenice in Terradellas’ SESOSTRI with the conductor Juan Bautista Otero, Bach’s ST. MATTHEW PASSION with the conductor Andrew Manze as well as with the conductor Johannes Knecht, Mozart’s REQUIEM with the conductor Lawrence Renes, Mahler’s SYMPHONY NR. 8 with the conductor Jukka Pekka Saraste, and a gala concerts with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. Ditte Andersen has recorded Servilia in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO with Adam Fischer, Bauci in Gluck’s BAUCI E FILEMONE and Cirene in Gluck’s ARISTEO with Christophe Rousset, and a CD with arias and cantatas by Italian baroque composers for the record label Berlin Classics.
